At RHC we promote former foster youth (FFY) student success with a holistic and trauma-informed approach. Our campus supports FFY through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office statewide NextUp program as well as through our long-standing Guardian Scholars Program. the GSP’s comprehensive support program is designed to empower current and former foster youth to ensure successful transition to adulthood, completion of a degree/certificate, and/or transfer to a four-year university. We are dedicated to enhancing the comprehensive services and resources provided to meet the unique personal, emotional, social, and financial needs of our students.
The Pritzker Foster Care Initiative, through the support of the Anthony and Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation, our program and services have been able to support 130-160 current and former foster youth per semester. Through these additional funds, more students are served, and a wider range of services are offered, including mental health resources, technology and educational supply assistance, and support with basic needs including food and housing security.
