The Student Life & Leadership staff takes pride in bringing in vendors, literature solicitors, petitioners, and those wishing to post publicity on campus. Many of our community partners provide helpful resources and benefits to the students, staff, and faculty of Rio Hondo College. Please see below to become one of our community partners.
Merchants
Rio Hondo College will permit, with prior authorization, the sale or display of items intended to sell on campus in the lower or middle quad areas only. Please be advised that the upper quad is reserved for literature solicitation and free speech petitions. Outside merchants must adhere to policies as well as submit proper paperwork before attempting to come onto campus.
A merchant interested in selling items must apply for a permit at least ten (10) business days in advance of the scheduled arrival. This includes merchants that will be selling on behalf of any Rio Hondo official club. Solicitation Registration/Vendor Permits are available from the Student Life and Leadership Department in the Student Union SU-201.
Fees
All Merchants must pay a fee unless they are on the Exempt Group List. Merchants who do not bring items, but solicit the sale of an item are required to pay a fee as their ultimate intent is for students to purchase an item or service.
- Merchants: each space per day
- First four (4) weeks of each semester: $100.00 per day
- Remainder of the semester $75.00 per day
Payment in full is required within ten (10) business days after you have reserved your space(s). Payment must be by Money Order or Business Checks; no personal checks or cash will be accepted. Merchants may not set up in space until payment is received. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Exempt Groups
Groups exempt from some or all Merchants Policies include: Rio Cafe, Follett (RHC Bookstore), Coca-Cola.
Restrictions
Solicitation of Credit Cards is not permitted at Rio Hondo College.
Groups who have not been given a confirmation will not be authorized to come onto campus. This may be due to non-payment, missing paperwork, and/or previous violations of college policy.
