The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is funded and made possible as part of the Cal OES Campus Sexual Assault Program grant at Rio Hondo College.
VIP coordinates outreach and on‐campus educational programming for issues related to sexual and intimate partner violence. VIP plans events such as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Denim Day, Vagina Monologues, healthy relationship workshops, self‐defense, trauma‐informed self‐care, movie nights, and the health and resource fair. Confidential Advocates are also available to provide crisis information, support, and information to survivors of violence or their loved ones.
VIP collaborates with the following areas on campus: Student Life, Title IX, Student Affairs, Conduct, Student Health and Psychological Services, Campus Safety, Student Equity, and Basic Needs. Our off-campus partnerships include the East LA Women’s Center, Whole Child, Jovenes, and SPIRITT Family Services as well as local law enforcement agencies including the LASD Pico Rivera Station and El Monte Police Department.
