Kristal Orozco, Trustee Area 4

Ms. Orozco was elected to the Board of Trustees November 3, 2020. She represents Trustee Area 4 which includes Los Nietos, Santa Fe Springs, South Whittier and North Norwalk.
BIOGRAPHY
Kristal Orozco is a mother and former community college graduate. After graduating high school she enrolled at Pasadena City College (PCC) and successfully finished her Associates Degree. She transferred to Whittier College and earned a Bachelors in History, the first in her family, and followed it up with a Masters in Higher Education Administration from Loyola Marymount University.
Orozco is an educator who has gone back and taught at various schools in Montebello Unified School District. Her life and career have been motivated to be a successful role model to her family and community. She is the eldest of two, her sister Carolina, is a proud Rio Hondo College graduate and is now attending a Cal State University.
Orozco’s beliefs are grounded in her experience being a first-generation college student and finishing her degrees while starting a family. She is committed to providing wraparound services needed to create equitable outcomes for all students. These include increasing the number of counselors, social service navigators, and mental health services. She is an advocate for higher education and wants to make the college more accessible by bringing more resources online and into the community.
Orozco is a proud wife and mother of two children; Roman 6, Ximena 1, living happily in Santa Fe Springs.
