Student Services and Resources
Rio Hondo Educational Center @ Pico Rivera staff are here to provide as many Student Services and Resources as possible. We offer potential and continuing students’ assistance with:
APPLICATION
In the Administration Office we have three computers in which we can assist with completing the Rio Hondo College online application. You will need to have a personal email address where you can receive emails from CCCApply and Rio Hondo College. If you do not have a personal email address, the staff are available to assist you in the creation of an email address that is free.
BIKE RACK
A bike rack is located at the end of the East Building near the fence.
BOOK STORE
We do not have a bookstore at our location, but we do maintain a supply of pens, pencils, and 882-E scantrons if needed.
BUS LINES
- Montebello 10 coming either West or East Bound on Whittier Blvd. to Passons. Transfer to the Montebello 60 can drop you off right in front of Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera
- Montebello 50 coming either West or East Bound on Washington Blvd. to Passons. You can either transfer to the Montebello 60 and be dropped off right in front of the Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera. You can also walk the short distance from Washington Blvd. and Passons to our center as well.
COMPUTER LAB
Are you looking for a quiet place to study? In need of a computer and printer? Rio Hondo Educational Center @ Pico Rivera has a computer lab where you can type and print your papers, research for projects, and study for a test.
A state-of-the-art Computer Lab is available to students throughout the semester. It is located in room 401 and the hours vary each semester, check the schedule outside of room 401 for the Computer Lab hours for the current semester.
Rio Hondo students are asked to sign in to use the Lab.
COUNSELING
Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera has a Counselor available to assist students attending classes here. Angela Sotelo has been assigned to assist students with their counseling needs at Pico. Come in the Administration office, call (562) 222 – 1482, or use the following link https://asotelo-riohondo.youcanbook.me/
to schedule an appointment. The Counselor can assist you with educational planning, advising, career exploration, transfer information, graduation information, and many other services.
DISABLED STUDENTS PROGRAMS & SERVICES (DSPS)
Accommodations can be made for students in need of extra time and/or a quiet space to take exams on site. Other services are available by arrangement with DSPS at the main campus.
FINANCIAL AID
Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera staff are available to assist you with filling out the Federal Application for Free Student Aid (FAFSA). In order to apply for financial aid you must bring with you your last year’s income tax forms (e.g. 2023 – 2024 FAFSA requires 2021 tax forms). Apply at https://studentaid.gov/. Rio Hondo College code is #001269. This application will also serve to inform Rio Hondo College and the State of California about your qualifications for state financial aid.
VENDING MACHINE
We have a vending machine located at the end of the restroom building facing the Courtyard area that dispenses soft drinks and water. For food options, you will have to travel either north or south of Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera to find food items. There is a 7-11 located on the corner of Passons and Washington Blvd. Otherwise, there are other fast food places located within 5 – 10 minutes of the Pico Rivera Educational Center.
ORIENTATION
New and continuing students may use the Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera computer lab or Administrative office computers to access their “My Online Orientation” by logging in to AccessRio. Select Academics, then select the “My Online Orientation.”
PARKING
Free parking is available to everyone attending Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera. Disabled parking spaces are directly in front of the campus, but you must have a current Disabled Parking Placard to park in these spaces.
REGISTRATION
We are here to assist you with the registration process. The first time you log into AccessRio, it may seem daunting to you. The staff will help you look for open classes, help you develop a schedule, and assist you with registering for your classes.
SMOKING/VAPING AREA
“No Smoking” or “Vaping” is permitted on Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera. Since we lease our facility from the El Rancho Unified School District, we must comply with their Smoke Free policy.
TRANSFER INFORMATION
Transfer information is available in the main office. Students may also access “www.assist.org” or “www.csumentor.edu,” and utilize the Eureka college program.
WiFi
Rio Hondo College Educational Center @ Pico Rivera offers Wi-Fi access to all Rio Hondo students. You would use PREC – Student. The password is learningonmyMind. Please note that the “m” in mind is a capital M.
