WHAT: Rio Hondo College’s Board of Trustees will host an Oath of Office Ceremony and Reception for returning Trustee Norma Edith Garcia and newly elected Trustees Rosaelva Lomeli and Oscar Valladares.
Garcia, who serves the First District, will be administered the oath by the Hon. Hilda L. Solis, a Los Angeles County supervisor and former Rio Hondo College trustee.
Lomeli, who was elected to represent the Third District, will be administered the oath by the Hon. Olivia Rosales, a Los Angeles Superior County judge.
Valladares, who was elected to the Fifth District, will be administered the oath by the Hon. Janice Hahn, a Los Angeles County supervisor.

DETAILS: Garcia, who represents El Monte, is chief deputy director of the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. Lomeli, who represents Whittier and South El Monte, teaches science at Suva Intermediate School in Bell Gardens. Valladares, who represents East Whittier, is a deputy public conservator in the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
During a meeting following the reception, the Board of Trustees will select officers for 2019.
