2425 Department of Ed FAFSA Updates
- The new FAFSA has been released. The new application was designed by the Department of Education to simplify the process. However, the Department of Ed is aware of many issues with the new application and created a website dedicated to addressing these issues. You can view that website here.

- I Can Afford This link is an all-inclusive link for students to view which types of aid are available, how to apply, and eligibility.
- FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid)– To complete FAFSA application or review the current application, use this link.
- FSA (Federal Student Aid)-This is a Department of Education link. Information regarding all forms of Federal Financial Aid is listed.
- NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System) -This is a website where students can review their loans, loan status, and grant data.
- California Student Aid Commission (CSAC)-This is a website where students can monitor and manage their Cal Grants and/or Chafee Grants

- Federal Student Aid: Find the information you need online-This page will show you links to all questions you have regarding financial aid.
Third-Party Scholarships
There are many scholarships that are offered directly to students. Please contact the organization offering the scholarship for additional information or to submit an application.
- Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute – The mission of CHCI Scholarship Program is to provide critical financial assistance that will increase graduation rates among Latino students in post-secondary education. CHCI’s scholarship opportunities are afforded to Latino students in the United States who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future. There is no GPA or academic major requirement. Students with excellent leadership potential are encouraged to apply.
- FastWeb – is a free subscription to a virtual data base of Scholarships. By filling out a profile, students will get personalized information on scholarship opportunities that match their profile.
- MALDEF – offers a Scholarship Resource Guide for high school, college, and graduate students; a Law School Scholarship Program for law students; and a DREAM Act Student Activist Scholarship Program for college and graduate students.
- Phi Theta Kappa – offers members opportunities to apply for over $87 million in scholarships opportunities from Phi Theta Kappa, partnering senior colleges, universities and foundations.
- TELACU – is a non-profit community development corporation founded in 1968. It is self-sustained by TELACU Industries, a for-profit family of companies which provides the economic means to fulfill its mission. Through its businesses, services and partnerships, TELACU creates dynamic opportunities to rebuild and enhance the communities it serves.
- The Hispanic Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships to Latino students, as well as related support services. HSF seeks to give students all the tools they need to apply to college, do well in their course work, graduate, enter a profession, excel, help lead our nation going forward, and mentor the generations to come.
