Our Mission
In alignment with Rio Hondo College Vision, Mission and Values, the Disabled Student Programs and Services is committed to providing students with disabilities the means to access post-secondary education and facilitate equal access to the educational environment in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the American with Disabilities Act.
DSPS’s primary goal is to provide the accommodations necessary to assist students with achieving their educational and vocational goals while promoting self-advocacy and independent learning. DSPS provides:
- Support services
- Accommodations for academic college activities
- Adaptive equipment and computer technology
- Assistive technology training
- Specialized instruction to serve students with verified disabilities
Our office promotes shared responsibility with the student, professor, and college staff for student success. Students with disabilities are an integral and vital part of the Rio Hondo College community.
DSPS is open for in-person services, we also continue to have a remote option for you!
Counseling services continue to be offered in a hybrid format, some in-person and remote (zoom or phone).

Under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1992, DSPS is an Agency-Based Registration Site, where students are offered information, voter registration application forms and the opportunity to become registered voters.
There is no obligation to register to vote and the student’s decision will have no effect on services offered by DSPS.
