General Counseling
General counselors are equipped and ready to assist you with academic, career and personal counseling. In a one-on-one appointment, you will receive comprehensive counseling to assist you in meeting your educational and career endeavors while also providing you tools for life success. Counselors are also available to orient you through the matriculation process, develop educational plans, review transfer and graduation requirements, evaluate transcripts and guide you through your transition into higher education.
Online Counseling
Online counseling services include basic educational and career planning, transcript evaluation and general education and transfer checks. Online counseling services is reserved for students who live too far from the campus to conveniently access services (remote students), for disabled students or for those students who have a compelling reason for not being able to come in person to see a counselor. Honors Counseling
Enrollment in honors sections is open to all continuing students who have completed English 101 with at least a “C” grade. Honors students receive priority admissions consideration to some universities, personalized honors counseling, smaller classes and more. For more information go to

Transfer Counseling
Our Transfer Center offers numerous workshops each semester, including how to submit winning applications and personal essays. Campus tours are provided to give Rio Hondo College students the opportunity to visit various four-year colleges and universities. College representatives frequently come to Rio Hondo College to work one-on-one with our students to advise them on the admissions process. EOPS/CARE
EOPS program’s primary goal is to encourage the enrollment, retention and transfer of students handicapped by language, social, economic and educational disadvantages and to facilitate the successful completion of their goals and objectives in college. CALWORKS
The goal is to provide students who are receiving cash aid/temporary aid for needy families with education, training, and employment skills to become self-sufficient. CalWORKs helps students complete county forms, develop educational plans, meet 32/35 hour county requirement(s), and provides additional support services as needed.
