The Writing Center
Location: LR 124
Phone: 562-463-3105
The Writing Center is writing environment where you can practice and develop your writing skills with the aid of an English Instructor. The Writing Center is located in the Learning Resource Center, LR -124. We are not a campus-wide Writing Center; students who visit the Writing Center must be enrolled in English 30, 35, 101, or 201. Students are expected to be actively engaged in writing during the entire time they visit the Writing Center, be it on the computer or by hand. Working with an instructor gives the students an opportunity to work one-on-one with a writing professional who can help them generate and organize ideas and present them clearly to their intended audience. Our instructors can help students with any process of their writing. The instructors will not edit a student’s work but focus on one or two main ideas. The Writing Center and their English class work hand-in-hand. It is a place for students to work on their English assignments, use our computers for research, and print out their essays and research papers. When students attend the Writing Center on a regular basis they see a marked difference in their writing skills and face their college education with confidence.
