Alternative Energy / Electronics
The Alternative Energy program at Rio Hondo is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level employment as integrators, designers or as maintenance and repair workers in the expanding industry of green technology. Learn about Photovoltaic Systems Design, Wind Energy Systems, and Home Energy Management. Other Green Industry class offerings include Green Building Design Principles, Construction Document Reading and Intro to the Electrical Industry.
The Applied Electrical/Electronics offerings are designed to provide a knowledge-base and practical skills necessary to many careers. Fundamental knowledge of electrical and electronics are part of what drives all technology of the 21st century. This program prepares students for jobs installing, repairing, maintaining and servicing electrical and electronics equipment. In particular, anyone desiring careers in telecommunications, electronics product development, bioscience technologies, construction, manufacturing, engineering, and transportation must consider one or more of these classes. These courses are necessary for anyone involved with facility or plant maintenance, Homeowners and consumers will find many of the courses useful to aid them in the selection of consumer products and effecting general household repairs.
