ASRHC President Christina Almanza shares her story as a struggling student. She reminds faculty that Rio Hondo College students are diverse in life experiences. “The word student is not restricted to someone who comes to class and does homework. A student here might be homeless, may be food insecure, formerly incarcerated, disabled, a veteran, a single parent, a part of the foster system, a part of the LGBTQ community and struggling with identity and acceptance.
