The Child Development Center Pre-School Laboratory offers opportunities for Rio Hondo students to observe the development and behavior of preschool children on campus. Students from the Behavioral and Social Science Division, the Child Development/Education Department and the Nursing Department utilize the laboratory to complete coursework and assignments under the supervision of the laboratory staff and their course instructors. Students enrolled in CD 228 Early Childhood Education Practicum complete lab hours each week for the entire semester at the Pre-School Laboratory.
All observations, assessments and interactions with the children enrolled in the program are kept confidential and private. Information discussed in course instruction does not include the names of individual children or their families. Students are instructed not to discuss information gained during their laboratory hours outside of the classroom environment. Students observing within the classroom or interacting with the children must show proof of immunization for Measles, Whooping Cough & Flu along with TB clearance within the last year.
