ART HISTORY PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Art History courses offered at RHC introduce students to artistic traditions from around the world and across time, enabling students to understand the visual arts as tangible expressions of the cultures of the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Art History offers an interdisciplinary approach, exploring the relationships between artistic developments and many other disciplines including history, politics, religion, music, philosophy, and anthropology. Courses are taught by well-traveled artists and art historians who seek to provide students with multiple perspectives and experience in applying various art historical methodologies to their study of the visual arts and visual culture. RHC Art History students visit local museums on a regular basis, including the Norton Simon Museum, the Getty Center, the Getty Villa, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
