In the last two years, Río Hondo’s EMT program graduates have shown a marked increase in success at passing the National Registry EMT exam. Our current NREMT first-time pass rate is 83%, over 10% higher than the national average of 69%.

The Río Hondo College Fire Academy is one of the largest state fire marshal-accredited fire academies in California. The academy exceeds all state standards and has since it started back in 1968. Past cadets have been hired by fire agencies and fire departments all across the state.

Río Hondo also offers a Los Angeles County EMT program and a Wildland Fire Academy that works closely with the United States Forest Service as part of the college’s own Wildland Fire Department.
