Intensive Basic Academy Session
The intensive basic academy is a full time, 1006-hour intensive course that satisfies the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) minimum training requirements for California entry-level peace officers. This course typically meet Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and is approximately six months in duration. It is designed for peace officer recruits who can dedicate their full attention.
The full-time Academy requires a strong commitment by recruits. Upon graduation, cadets receive a certificate of completion which enables them to qualify for any police department in the state of California. Numerous police agencies recruit from each Academy class. Many pre-service cadets are hired while still attending the Academy.
Approximate total cost for the Academy is $5500.00
Extended Basic Academy Session
** There are NO Extended Classes scheduled at this time
The extended basic academy session is a 10-12 month academy program geared toward those individuals who are working adults or have other commitments during the day and wish to attend an academy session in the evening and on weekends. The hours generally are 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and on Saturdays 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The extended basic police academy meets all the same training requirements as that of the intensive course, but just offered in an extended format. This course also satisfies the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) minimum training requirements for California entry-level peace officers.
