Krista Orozco

Term of Office 2024-2028

Ms. Orozco was re-elected to the Board of Trustees November 5, 2024. She represents Trustee Area 4 which includes Los Nietos, Santa Fe Springs, South Whittier and North Norwalk.

Biography

Kristal Orozco is a dedicated mother, community leader, and advocate for equitable education. A first-generation college graduate, she began her academic journey at Pasadena City College (PCC), where she earned an associate degree before transferring to Whittier College. Kristal earned her bachelor’s degree in history, becoming the first in her family to achieve a four-year degree. She later earned a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from Loyola Marymount University, further solidifying her commitment to improving educational outcomes for all students.

Kristal has returned to her roots in education, working within the Montebello Unified School District, where she currently oversees the Wellbeing Centers at Schurr and Montebello High Schools. Her personal experiences as a first-generation college student and working mother have profoundly shaped her understanding of the challenges faced by students, particularly those from underserved communities. These experiences fuel her passion for creating equitable pathways to success, ensuring that every student has the resources and support they need to thrive.

Kristal is deeply committed to providing wraparound services that promote student success. She advocates for increasing access to counselors, social service navigators, and mental health services, all crucial elements in supporting the holistic needs of students.

In addition to her role as trustee, she is a wife and mother to two young children, Roman (10) and Ximena (5), and lives with her family in Santa Fe Springs where she continues to balance her professional passion with her commitment to her family.
