Welcome to the Division of Communications and Languages
The Division of Communications and Languages is one of the largest at Río Hondo College. It’s comprised of six departments.
100+ Communications and Languages Courses Available
The division offers more than a hundred courses to lay the foundation for your transfer, career, and educational goals.
Many courses fulfill general education transfer requirements included among the California State University General Education-Breadth Course Requirements (in Areas A and C2) and the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (in Areas 1, 3, and 5).
Most courses are in a traditional on-site format, but the number of courses offered online and in other alternative formats is increasing.
We offer on-site courses on the Río Hondo campus and at the South Whittier Educational Center, El Monte Educational Center, and Río Hondo Educational Center at Pico Rivera.
On-Campus Publications and Educational Activities
The Division of Communications and Languages oversees the on-campus newspaper, magazine, and Forensics Speech and Debate Team. These activities offer students the opportunity to practice, apply, and showcase their skills.
Free Tutoring
The Writers’ Resource Center is another valuable facet of the Division of Communications and Languages. Open to all Río Hondo students, the Writers’ Resource Center offers free English tutoring, workshops, and one-on-one writing assistance.
