The courses offered in this program compiles a comprehensive list of job related skills needed to acquire advanced welding skills. The skills acquired during class will prepare an individual to take and pass the City of Los Angeles Certified Welder Exam, which also aligns with the American Welding Society (AWS) standards. This program offers an Associate of Science Degree and Certificate of Achievement.
LA City Certified Welder Exam now offered at Río Hondo College
The Río Hondo College, Career and Technical Education Department is proud to announce that our Welding and testing Lab is now a City of Los Angeles authorized testing facility for the Certified Welder Practical Exam in structural steel (D1.1) and structural steel light gauge (D1.3).
Process and fees
The student(s) who successfully pass all required courses Weld 40 – Weld 75 for the certificate in welding with a C or better may apply for the certificate of completion. Student(s) who complete or in progress of completing courses Weld 40 – Weld 80. Student(s) currently enrolled in WELD 075 – Certification Welding I will be eligible to take the exam at a reduced rate of $132.50. For all other Welding RHC Students will be $265.00.
