Meet Your Art History Professors

The faculty of the Art History program at Río Hondo College are well-traveled artists and art historians who seek to provide students with multiple perspectives and experience in applying various art historical methodologies to their study of the visual arts and visual culture.

Dr. Cynthia Neri Lewis received a B.A. in Art History from Pomona College, Claremont, an M.A. in Art History from California State University, Fullerton, and a Ph.D. in the History of Art from the University of California, Riverside.  She specializes in the colonial art of the Americas, with an emphasis on the missions of California and the art of the Spanish borderlands.

She teaches courses in the History of Western Art (ART 105 and ART 106), the Art of Mexico (ART 108), the Art of the Ancient Americas (Art 104) and the Art of the Americas: Colonial to the Present (ART 109). She enjoys teaching honors courses, serving on several campus committees, and traveling to Spain, Mexico, Italy, and France with her art and art history students.
