 Counseling & Student Development

Attention Rio Hondo College Students!

California community college tuition and fees are established by the CA State Legislature and are subject to change. Due to the unresolved budget issues facing the state, tuition and fees for all California community college students may increase after Fall semester registration begins. You will be contacted by Rio Hondo College in the event of a tuition or fee increase and asked to pay the difference.

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to apply for Financial Aid (see instructions on page 11 of the Fall 2009 Class Schedule) or to visit the Financial Aid office (Administration Building, Room A116; Phone 562-908-3411) to receive assistance in completing a financial aid application.

Message from the Dean:

On behalf of Rio Hondo College and the Counseling & Student Development (CSD) department I would like to welcome you to our website and our campus. It is our mission to help you achieve your academic and career goals. Our counselors are dedicated professionals who are more than willing to address your educational and career related concerns either online or on-campus. Students who regularly meet with a counselor are far more successful in college than those who do not. The CSD department consists of the following special programs and services:

  • Assessment
  • Career Development Center
  • CARE Program
  • Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)
  • General Counseling
  • Transfer Center

Our services are comprehensive, and It is our intention to help you put the pieces together to accomplish your goals. Visit our “Center of Excellence” and give us the opportunity to help you succeed. Good luck!

Dr. Walter C. Jones, Dean of Counseling & Student Development
